The pandemic's effect on young people's health and non-COVID care services
The
2022 edition of Health at a Glance: Europe looks at the key challenges
to build more resilient and effective health systems following COVID-19.
This webinar will focus in particular on the impact of the pandemic on
young people’s health, including both their mental and physical health,
and the need for further action to ensure the pandemic does not leave
permanent scars on a generation of young people. This webinar will also
review the impact of the pandemic in disrupting a wide range of health
services for non-COVID patients, and discuss the policy responses from
European countries to minimise adverse consequences.

Health at a Glance: Asia/Pacific 2022
This
recent analysis finds that the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified health
inequalities between high-, middle- and low-income countries in the
region. India and Indonesia have been the countries most affected, based
on estimated excess deaths. In contrast, most countries in South-East
Asia, as well as Pacific Island countries, have been less adversely
affected to date.
All countries across the Asia-Pacific implemented vaccination campaigns.
Across the region, as of September 2022, the percentage of the
population who received a booster shot amounts to almost 84% in
high-income countries, whereas that of lower-income countries is
slightly below 20%. This demonstrates that there is significant inequity
when it comes to vaccine access between high- and low-income countries
in the region.
